Yelawolf's second EP in 2012 tethers itself to Travis Barker's emphatic drum pummeling, and at times it seems like all backbeat and Yelawolf's double-time flow. "Push 'Em" and "6 Feet Underground" recall Barker's onetime punk-thug project the Tran$plants; "Whistle Dixie" builds around a whistle and a military rhythm; "Funky Sh*t" is a neo-trap exercise. "I'm not a frat boy/ I'm a rap boy/ In Hollywood, like Ackroyd/ But I read my script with a Southern drawl," Yelawolf reassures us on the latter. There's no need to apologize: Psycho White is an imaginative lark.
